MDEA (Methyl Diethanolamine) is a colourless liquid miscible with benzene and water and has an amine like odour. It is used as a sour gas sweetening agent to absorb acidic gases (H2S, CO2) which results in considerable energy savings. It is also used in water treatment chemicals, corrosion inhibitors, as a catalyst for polyurethane foams etc.
