ADVANTAGES OF CNG

Cost efficiency
Automobile fueling cost has a direct bearing on the living costs of the common person. CNG has become popular because of its low-cost advantage over gasoline. Presently, CNG saves up to 60% of the total fuel cost when compared to Petrol.

Hi-octane rating
The octane rating of CNG is higher than premium gasoline (rated at 87). CNG needs no additives or
anti-knocking agents such as lead.

Cleaner environment
CNG emits fewer Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides and Lead emissions than do petrol or diesel. CNG usage is better for the environment and the depleting Ozone layer.
Better ignition at low temperatures

Unlike gasoline, CNG does not have to be vaporized for ignition. It does not condense on any cold component of the engine either. It remains in its gaseous form and functions as a fuel much better than petrol does under similar conditions.

Safety
CNG Vehicles are safer than gasoline powered vehicles. CNG requires a temperature of 700Co to ignite, while gasoline ignites at a much lower temperature of 455Co. With CNG there is also a narrower gas to air ignition range and CNG is lighter than air, thus it quickly dissipates into the atmosphere in the event of a leak. Also CNG cylinders are manufactured to more rigorous standards than gasoline tanks and are able to withstand tremendous pressures.

Low maintenance cost
CNG reduces the maintenance cost of the vehicle as it reduces the frequency of oil and spark plug changes.

Extends life of engine
CNG enters the engine as gas whereas petrol or diesel enters as spray or mist. This spray-mist washes down the lubricating oil from the top piston ring thereby increasing the rate of attrition of an engine.
Since this is not the case with CNG, the life of the engine is easily extended.
