The Sector for CNG is regulated under CNG Production & Marketing Rules, 1992. Pakistan’s government is encouraging the private sector towards this end in order to reduce national dependence on fuel imports. To achieve this goal, the Government of Pakistan has allowed total exemption of all Customs duties and taxes on the importation of CNG filling equipment and Conversion Kits. As part of their commitment to encourage and hasten public and private conversion to CNG, the Government has allowed the duty-free import of CNG run buses. The Government has also issued directives to its various departments and corporations ordaining conversion of all official vehicles to CNG.
